History After a two-month history of numbness and weakness of the left side of her body, Stacia was admitted to the hospital on Jan 4th, 2005 .After several MRI's and a biopsy she was diagnosed with a brain tumor, called a right thalamic anaplastic ganglioglioma/astrocytoma GRADE 3.After the biopsy, Stacia had problems moving and using her left side of her body. Her medical team decided, it would be to dangerous for her to go back in her brain. They thought radiation and chemotherapy would be the best treatment for her, hoping they could shrink the tumor! But things didn't go to well. The tumor was still growing, starting to close up her ventricles. So we had to make a quick desicion to get a operation on May 31! That was her only chance. The doctor removed about 80% of her tumor and she recovered from her surgery pretty good! One year after the tumor had grown back in her brainstem. Since all the neurological functions are located in there, the doctor would not operate on in and said there was nothing else he could do for us! After our Disney trip in March things went down very quickly. The tumor had grown 50% in 6 weeks. She started to sleep more and more and closed her eyes forever on March 18th, 2006.
What is a digital painting? A digital painting is a computer based interpretation painted by hand using the latest tools in digital technology. This technique undergoes the same process as a true oil or acrylic painting, but uses the computer instead of a traditional paintbrush and canvas. I hand paint each pixel using a pressure sensitive wacom tablet and homemade digital brush variants, stroke by stroke. There are no shortcuts, no filters, or programs that automatically "paint" the image. The process is time consuming, and custom tailored. The virtual interpretations are painted utilizing the same techniques as a true oil painting.
